Rochester, N.Y. – A Super Bowl contending NFL Quarterback joined many local award winners at an annual awards dinner Tuesday evening.

San Francisco 49ers starter Colin Kaepernick, who led his team to the Super Bowl last year, won the Sports Personality of the Year award at The Rochester Press Radio Club’s Day of Champions Dinner.

Buffalo Bills rookie safety Duke Williams, who was Kaepernick's college teammate at the University of Nevada, represented the Buffalo Bills Tuesday night along with Buffalo Sabres player Marcus Foligno.

The event also granted many awards ant scholarships to the region’s top high school and college athletes.

The event serves as a fundraiser for local children and family not-for-profit organizations.
