Rochester N.Y- Testimony is expected to get underway today in the trial of Clayton Whittemore.

He's accused of killing Alexandra Kogut in her College at Brockport dorm room in 2012.

Opening statements took place yesterday, where prosecutors told jurors that the killing was a brutal and senseless crime.

Whittemore's attorney says he is asking jurors to convict him for manslaughter instead of second degree murder

. The defense says years of abuse at the hands of his father led to his actions.
