Waitress Accused Of Using Prepaid Credit Cards To Tip Herself Extra Cash

Leah Wehrmann, 25

A North Carolina waitress was arrested after police say she obtained over $3,700 by overcharging prepaid credit cards and giving herself thousands of dollars in tips. According to police, while 25-year-old Leah Wehrmann was working at Juicy Lucy's Burger Bar and Grill in Asheville, she made 14 fraudulent transactions, and in one instance gave herself a tip of over $500. They did not say when the transactions occurred.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the case but pointed out that she did not scam any customers out of money. She allegedly purchased the gift cards with her own money and would overcharge them and then pocket the cash.

Wehrmann was charged with 14 felony counts of obtaining property under false pretense. She was released from jail on a $50,000 bond and pleaded not guilty during her first appearance in court.
