Ayesha Curry Faces Backlash Over Unrecognizable New Look

Ayesha Curry is facing criticism from fans over her new ‘do.

The 31-year-old is being accused of “trying to look white” since showing off her latest hair transformation. On Sunday (October 18), the Full Plate cookbook author, who is married to basketball star Steph Curry, took to social media to debut her blonde hairstyle.

“Mom goes blonde (temporarily),” Ayesha captioned an Instagram video showing her and her husband riding in a car together with her platinum blonde tresses on full display.

Most fans were so shocked by Ayesha’s unrecognizable aesthetic — an obvious far cry from her usual brunette looks — that they even confused her for “a white woman.”

“I was wondering who this white woman was with Steph curry ahahhaha.....smh Im mad at myself. Was ready to fight for ayesha. Girl I thought u were a white girl,” one user joked on Instagram. Another added, "I thought this was a White woman. Lol didn't even recognize you.”

Someone else tweeted, “Wow!!!!! Ayesha is really going through an identity crisis. All I see is a White Woman.”

Eventually, Ayesha took to Twitter to defend herself. “It’s the fun wig for a switch up and extremely common IG filter we all use from time to time for me,” she tweeted. “I just… y’all be taking this stuff wayyy to serious.”

Steph also came to his wife’s defense on Instagram, writing, “You beautiful baby. And don’t you let anybody tell you differently ok? I mean it. There’s just a bunch of meanies out there and I don’t like it. I don’t like it one bit. Do you boo boo.”
