150 of the Greatest Albums Made By Women

The history of "great" popular music is told through the works of men, often branding women musicians as "trends" on the margins. NPR music critic Ann Powers spearheaded a project to assemble "a new canon": a list of the 150 greatest albums made by women, including artists like Robyn, the Breeders and Aaliyah. As ranked by 50 NPR critics, here are the top 10 albums made by women (full list at link below):
