Did former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci get canned after 10 days on the job because he was carrying on an affair with FOX News anchor Kimberly Guilfoyle? That’s what TMZ is insinuating with a report that states The Mooch was fired shortly after the tabloid outlet placed an inquiry about the pair's relations to the White House.
TMZ notes that Scaramucci and Guilfoyle have spent time together both publicly and privately over the last year, while a source close to The Mooch claims they’re just longtime friends. But the timing of Scaramucci’s recent divorce from his pregnant wife is suspicious, to put it mildly, and TMZ’s sources say The Mooch was shoved out the door because “the last thing [Chief of Staff Kelly] and the president wanted was another news cycle on Scaramucci on Kelly’s first day.”
TMZ managed to grab a quick interview with Scaramucci as he exited Donald Trump’s D.C. hotel on Tuesday. While declining to reveal how he left things with the president, The Mooch was uncharacteristically diplomatic when discussing the man who reportedly decided he had to go. “I'm working on being the best person I can be, and I want Chief of Staff Kelly to have an unbelievable opportunity inside the White House,” he said of Major John Kelly, Trump’s newly appointed chief of staff. As for rumors that Scaramucci might join former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer on Dancing With the Stars, an amused Mooch replied, “I don’t know how to dance.”
