HBO confirmed on Friday a Friends reunion special.
HBO president released a statement, (quote) “Guess you could call this the one where they all got back together. We are reuniting with David Schwimmer, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow, and Matthew Perry for an HBO Max special.”
The six actors negotiated for a hefty fee. The total price tag is “at least $20 million.”
The one-time, unscripted event will likely be hosted by Ellen DeGeneres when the HBO Max streaming service launches in May. It’s expected to follow a talk show format featuring favorite clips from the sit-com. All 10 seasons will start to stream May 1st at HBO Max.
Sure. Great. But what a let down. Is a special that isn't scripted and is in a talk show format REALLY a reunion show? Big deal...we get to see them interviewed as a group. That's NOT what we want folks. We WANT a NEW Episode! 'The One Where We See What They've Been Doing for 20 Years'!! I don't want to see David Schwimmer talk about his favorite Ross scenes, I want to SEE ROSS!!
Am I right here? Aren't we getting robbed of a reunion?
I WILL tell you...(WARNING - THIS IS NOT CONFIRMED - JUST A RUMOR)...that there are negotiations for a 12-part reunion series in 2021...the question is...can HBO afford the hefty price tag?
