Butter for the Troopers, free ice cream for the kids from the cops.

Let's face the facts: police officers get a bad rap. They know and expect it. It's somewhat inherent to "the job".

Today, as the New York State Fair opens in Syracuse, State Troopers are getting some respect.  A butter sculpture has been built, carved out of 800 pounds of butter, as a salute to the 100th Anniversary of the State Police protecting our state.

Butter is nice.  Ice cream is better. In Boston, they're trying a different approach to community policing with the summer treat, and it makes a lot of sense.  You'll understand after listening to the kids that the Boston cops are helping:
