Happy 243rd Birthday to the United States Marines Corps! And a salute to all who have worn the uniform on this Veteran's Day Weekend.
Our Marines were formed on Nov. 10, 1775 in Philadelphia. Today this component of the US Department of Navy has 185,000 active members, along with 38,500 reservists, and millions of veterans like my father T. Hamilton Kennedy. My hero "Ham" was awarded the Purple Heart after surviving from wounds suffered when he was shot in a bloody battle in Peleliu in the Pacific Ocean. His comrades from the Marines got him off that tiny island, and I thank them everyday for saving my dad.
Watch and share the video below showing you how well trained our heroes are, and how tough a Marine is.
So, HAPPY BIRTHDAY Saturday Jarheads. Semper Fidelis!
This Sunday also commemerates the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I. To all who have served in our armed forces, THANK YOU. Please have a safe Veteran's Day Weekend. God bless our troops.
