April 4, 1968 in Memphis TN, one of America's icons was taken to "the promised land" when Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated. The Baptist minister, civil rights leader and Nobel Peace Prize winner was just 39-years-old.
The night before, he delivered a powerful speech that turned out to be prophetic. He stated "I've seen the promised land. I may not get there with you." Sadly, his words ring true on the 50th anniversary of his death, as he was gunned down the next day in Memphis.
Today is a day to remember him, his words and actions that changed America forever. There's no better way than to watch this speech, his final attempt to bridge the gap on April 3, 1968.
